At Thorngrove we believe that trips and outings often bring a subject to life and allow the children to see, touch and hear about the topic for themselves. Throughout the year day trips and outings are arranged to exciting and interesting destinations that link carefully into the designed curriculum. Recent trips have included: the Roman Baths in Bath; Portsmouth Historic Docks; the Winchester Science Centre; Windsor Castle and the Trenches trip to WW1 battlefields.
We also have a ‘Trips Week’ for children in Year 5 and above. These trips are longer, residential trips that happen after the exams in the summer term. Currently Year 6 go to a PGL centre; Year 5 to Battisborough House on the Devon Coast; Year 7 to Normandy, France and Year 8 to the Ultimate Experience Centre in Bideford.
