The Nursery is where the journey starts for most children at Thorngrove.  It is housed in a modern, light and welcoming room on the ground floor of the main school building.  The classroom spills out onto an outdoor play area which is used throughout the year, whatever the weather!

Class sizes are kept very small.  The Nursery is next door to the Reception class and this allows for the children to work closely with the Reception children, encouraging high attainment and a smooth transition later.  The Nursery children join in many of the ‘big school’ activities, including a weekly assembly and lunchtime in the New Hall.  The children also enjoy having specialist teachers for French, P.E. and Music.  They certainly make the most of the outdoor space covering 25 acres of fields, streams and woodlands!

We accept the Government Grant and are registered for Edenred and Fideliti Childcare Voucher Schemes.  Sessions are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Children aged over 2 ½ years may join the Nursery at the start of the autumn term in September.  If you require a place starting later in the year then your name will be put on a waiting list and we will inform you of any availability.  The full admissions policy is available on request from the school office together with any further information.  We look forward to welcoming you and showing you around.
