Our latest inspection was carried out during the summer term 2017 by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
The school was inspected on 17th and 18th May 2017. This was one of the relatively new inspections, a Regulatory Compliance Inspection, which looks at whether or not a school has met each of the myriad regulations that independent schools are now required to meet. There are currently 493 regulations in the ISI handbook. The report is written to a template and is specific as regards the wording that can be used. It will therefore look very similar to other compliance inspection reports.
Compliance inspections do not give any information about the quality of education offered by a school and only record whether we have met the regulations. Therefore, the inspection report itself is pretty dry and offers only ‘met’ or ‘not met’ to a list of regulations. We are advised that schools should view Compliance Inspections as similar to an MOT and that they enable the school to put right any area in which they require improvement. The school has now addressed and rectified these areas as reported in the PMV (November 2017).
Prior to this inspection a rigorous, robust and in-depth inspection was carried out by a team of inspectors in May 2013 which also focused on the educational quality of the school. In all eight key areas, the school was judged to be ‘excellent’.
