Sport is played regularly by all children at Thorngrove. Games include football, rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, rounders, cross-country running, tennis and athletics, and many pupils will be selected to play in matches against neighbouring prep. schools.
Sport encourages competitiveness and the desire to do one's best and by participating in sports, children will learn about discipline and effective team- playing. Equally relevant, of course, is fitness, and P.E. classes each week ensure that all pupils will learn the importance of developing a healthy lifestyle.
A House System (Ash, Beech, Oak and Rowan) enables the children to compete for the House Athletics Cup presented at our annual Sports Day, and House Points awarded for sport as well as effort and achievement in the classroom go towards a House Points Shield presented each term.
